Website Maintenance – Removal of RainBuster Sealant Product 300
Please makes checks payable to: Philip Ingram
On 5/16/24 (1.75hr) – Assisted with removal of Sealant Product 300 with #pid 124 affecting pages “/products/sealants/” as well as the “/industrial/other/” page. I first discovered product 300 in the back end under products and changed it’s published status from ‘published’ to ‘draft’ where typically this removes any “query loop” occurrence of the item however it did not remove it from either page. I suspected one of the many caching mechanisms installed may be still loading an old copy even though “draft” status should have removed it but even after clearing caches the item remained on both pages however the link to the product page resulted in a ” not found” message. I then moved the product to the deleted folder, cleared caches and verified it no longer listed on the “/products/sealants/” page however it was still showing in 2 places on the “/industrial/other/” page and using a code editor I was able to discover this product was hard coded into the page and that is why it was still showing the images, copy and link even though the link was now broken. I quickly commented out the 2 areas of code pertaining to this specific product, cleared caches and confirmed neither instance are now showing on the “/industrial/other/” page. Also added a redirect rule for the old ulr path for product 300 in case search engines or other sites link to this old product, instead of getting a not found page it just redirects back to the home page. Will update Catherine via email.
On 6/17/25 (.5hr) – Catherine reported a link within a search dialog that also needed to be removed. Logged in and navigated the site to discover the url on the Products > Sealants page where it listed Acrylic-Siliconized and then found there was no menu setting url back end admin area providing these links but instead after poking around the theme files I found it with the html of the page-product-sealants.php template and remove the list-item which was a broken link anyway since product #300 has already been removed but now the search menu item has been removed. Tested on the front end, after clearing browser caches, and the search option is no longer present. Update Catherine via email.
On 7/15/25 – Paid via check 1224590
